A TV segment about the award-winning board game caught the eye of software producer Nenad Bjegovic. "I love puzzles," said Bjegovic, "and this GAMES Magazine award is very prestigious -- one of the early winners was Monopoly. When I saw DORIS on TV, not only did I want to play it, I wanted to transfer those inviting octagons to the touch screen."

"The show also mentioned that the game improves memory and problem solving skills, and would appeal not just to puzzle lovers, but also to people wanting to stay mentally fit," added Bjegovic. "I knew there had to be a market for it worldwide."

The next day Bjegovic met with Zdravko Zivkovic, the Serbian government employee who had invented DORIS. The meeting lasted all of 15 minutes, but was enough for the inventor to get excited about the idea of a digital DORIS.

Granted the rights to develop DORIS for all digital devices, Bjegovic teamed up with longtime collaborator Dejan Nikolic, who would manage the business side of the operations, and developer Nemanja Bondzulic. The independent team spent a year creating DORIS for the iPhone and iPod Touch. "Considering how complex the game is, it all came together surprisingly fast," said Bjegovic. "The biggest challenge was fitting the matrix onto the iPhone. The board game has limitless space that we had to adjust for the small screen. I think it works great -- but of course, I'm now developing DORIS specifically for the iPad."
